MarceMD “This is my first book review on , and that is really a tribute to this book. Despite having gone to a reputable medical school, CV physiology was taught to me as a series of overly-detailed lectures that made it hard to construct the forest from the proverbial trees. Since then, now a resident in Internal Medicine, and having been inspired to go into the field of Critical Care, I knew that I couldn’t let this fractured knowledge-base continue for much longer. I had come across the author’s website during med school (cvphysiology.com) and recently revisited it. I then bought this book and read it cover-to-cover. Out of the many reasons to praise his work, I think my vote goes to his ability to explain concepts WITHOUT simplifying them. Although paradoxical-sounding, this separates his book out from the rest of the sea of possible purchases. It is easy to make concepts understandable but so simplified that they are literally not clinically useful (e.g., the Made Ridiculously Simple series). On the other hand, probably more common, there are books which lose sight of the fact that the reader is learning, not reviewing what is already known. CV Physiology Concepts finds the balance, and in the end, is clinically very applicable.

Narrated in the first person, Millie became a prominent figure I completely respected. Her witty personality shined through, as did her saint-like patience. Nina, the lady of the house, enraged me to my core. What a nightmarish boss to have, and don’t get me started on her bratty daughter. Despite the horrid treatment, Millie’s class and strength dealt with these dreadful personalities like a champ! As for Nina’s husband, Andrew, I found him to be quite dreamy and kind-hearted compared to the rest of his family.
Once I reached the second part, the twist hit me like a ton of bricks. Freida, you got me. Even though I didn’t see it coming, my heart sang with the juicy drama. Considering the spoilers, I can’t say much other than how revolting the Winchester family is. I cannot imagine anyone going through the craziness that ensued in this phenomenally written novel. By the end, everything wrapped up perfectly, and Freida officially won me over as a devote fan. I beg you to purchase THE HOUSEMAID, a true gem in the thriller genre. It will hit every element you look for while leaving you psychologically stunned and wanting more!”
