Reviews From Customers

“The stated goal is to present a practical surgical guide, which this book nicely accomplishes. … Clearly the target audience is orthopedic surgeons as well as residents and fellows in training who will do ACL reconstructions. It will be of special value to orthopedic sports surgeons who already perform a lot of ACL surgeries. … This is a decidedly unique and wonderful addition to the literature.” (Mark R. Hutchinson, Doody’s Book Reviews, September, 2014) –This text refers to the hardcover edition.

Terrible early 2000s equivalent of an electronic product
August 3, 2018

This book is obviously an important, comprehensive, and well written text used by Anesthesiologists around the world. I am sadden by the Publisher’s attempt to cheap out on the textbooks poor excuse for an electronic version. The electronic version through Virtual Bookshelf is like iBooks from 2010. You can’t default to highlighting and have to highlight each line, then press highlight or make a note. These are the ONLY interactive interfaces you can use: highlighting and making a sticky note. There’s not even an option to “bookmark” certain pages or sections! As a regular user of Kindle, this is a useless product given how much the book costs.

When publishers produce a bad e-product like this, they are hurting themselves, and promote the proliferation of illegal pdf copies that are much more user friendly.

great content, digital reader inferior to Inkling
May 23, 2019

Nice content and I really like the actual book version of this product. some of the discussions and tips for neuraxial are nice as an example. the best way to access the content digitally is via a PC. the video content is not working on mobile and this is highly annoying. On mobile, the images won’t magnify, so the figures are very small even on an s9+. on a pc, some magnification can be done, and this to me is the best way to access the content. I would give the product five stars for the content and one for the electronic. don’t know why they went with this reader instead of Inkling this time around.

MISSING PAGES!
July 21, 2020

So far I have realized that16 pages are totally missing! It’s been a busy semester so I haven’t had time to flip through the entire book page by page to see if there are other pages missing (because this is a huge text book). This is the first time I’ve ever received a messed up textbook and I’ve ordered textbooks off of online store for several years now. Not worth the little bit of discount!

I was glad that I bought the new book with ebook access …
August 1, 2017

I will be using the book throughout my anesthesia practice. Contains lots of visuals and provides valuable clarity. The book is really heavy to carry around on a frequent basis. So, I was glad that I bought the new book with ebook access code. The codes in the newest edition of the textbook as of 08/01/17 does not work on vital source platform. Vital source requires 20 digits numbers…but a short email to the publisher’s tech support – Wolters Kluwer Health Learning ([email protected]) fixed it for me.
I am extremely satisfied 🙂

A Must-Have for all Anesthesia Providers
May 24, 2017

The printed book is terrific and is of the high quality I’ve come to expect from Dr. Barash and colleagues. The book is exceptionally well written and edited making it a pleasure to read.
The e-book is now available (finally) and is also a pleasure to work with. Fast search results with the associated page numbers makes referencing from the book very easy.

Consultants ask you something and you say this is your source, they won’t ask additional questions
March 21, 2020

I know this is supposed to be our mother book in residency, however it is very difficult to understand, probably because it is very extensive. I prefer the fast tract anesthesia books but the irony is, this is also their main source of info.
