always good to stay with a classic

This is a book that was recommended by my consultant which had helped her prepare for her Paces exam and I must say this book is highly relevant and has many of the common cases that is considered ‘bread and butter’ by the RCP.
Each case highlights how to approach the patient in the exam, what kind of questions to ask to obtain a thorough and relevant history and is followed by a list of differentials and investigations required as well as additional questions the examiner may ask at the end of the station.
I understand that there is a newer edition to reflect the recent changes made to the MRCP Paces exam. Have not checked out the new edition yet so I don’t know how it fares against this older copy though

communication part is the best. But the History section is not very good general with no specifications
they have a section of previous experiences and stations plus quotations from candidates and examiners

Excellent book. Quick delivery. Only problem is pages 447-494 missing from my copy. Very odd!! Otherwise, highly recommended.

Very useful for communications and ethics scenario. Several scenarios covered with detail explanations, read only once but it just improved my confidence.

Make sure you buy this book to actually go through the scenarios and not ‘read like a novel when you go to bed’. I have been fortunate to pass the PACES and this book was invaluable.
