interesting fostering story

I am a Cathy Glass fan. This book was interesting as it told of a young teenager who was subjected to her stepfather’s emotional abuse. SPOILERS*** and his pedophile activities of taking private intimate photos and videos of her . He also abused her mother and kept her locked up at home afraid of his retribution. The family managed to escape his reach when he was charged for these crimes. Tilly was a smart and determined girl who helped her mom, sick grandma and herself and hopefully all will lead a better life. Cathy did a great job supporting her
I enjoyed the book although some parts were a bit over-detailed. One thing about Cathy that is of note is how she dealt with her own daughter who had an unplanned baby with her boyfriend. While CG is an excellent caregiver, I felt she did not handle this situation well. Emotional support is wonderful, but she was way over the top with financial assistance, doing their shopping, cooking and misc jobs that a 24+ yr old working couple should have been able to manage. I felt she treated Lucy like a doll and did too much for her which may impede her ability to be independent with this baby. Just my opinion. At least the child is wanted and loved.

Cathy always makes you feel as you are there. I love her style of writing. You feel like she’s your best friend telling you a story over a cup of tea. She’s not perfect but has that fierce love for her family and the children or teenagers she fosters. Tilly goes through a lot for a young girl and Cathy is her security to help her find her way. I think Tilly will make it through her difficult journey and have the love of her biological family and Cathys too as it takes a village to raise a child. I hope forgiveness comes in the next book so healing can begin. Grudges accomplish nothing. But way to go for giving Tilly time to do it on her own.
Beware you need to buy her next book to know the ending of this one.

I always enjoy her books. They are very real and interesting and I have read all of them. However as much as I enjoy them as I recall, she has never not finished the story and said at the end that it will be completed in her next book which is due to come out in 4 months.I really don’t care to be told if I want to find out how it ends buy another book. I will of course, but she needs to know that’s not really a very nice thing to do. Leave us all hanging. Not really like her to do that.

This book is excellent. I have not even finished it yet but I am nearing the end. I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars as in 1 chapter (probably 2/3 of the way through the book)) there were so many grammatical errors. I thought this to be unlike Cathy Glass’ books. But the book context is very good. Tilly is one strong 14 year old girl, who is the foster child in this book. She has had one tough life. I hope Cathy will be writing a few more books as I do like how she incorporates her family into the stories. I have read quite a few of them and have enjoyed all but one of them. Congrats to Lucy on her baby and to Cathy for becoming a grandmother for the first time.
