A Statin Nation PDF -If you have been told that you must take statins or risk a devastating heart attack or stroke, you need to read this book. Dr Kendrick, a well-known statin sceptic and author of the bestselling The Great Cholesterol Con, has returned to the diet-heart-cholesterol battlefield to warn that people are being conned.

In relaxed and humorous style, he lifts the rock to allow the reader to peer underneath. He points out that statins, even in high-risk individuals, increase life expectancy by a mere four days after five years of treatment. Yet adverse effects have been swept under the carpet by researchers who are closely tied to the industry.

The way to avoid heart disease, and strokes, is simple – but, as this riveting book shows, it has nothing to do with lowering cholesterol levels.

LDW “After nearly ten years on statins, and then being off of them for almost two years, while simultaneously venturing into low-carb, reading many books and blogs, and listening to many podcasts, I thought that this book would be “preaching to the choir.” Knowing that I would never go back on statins, I was however in the mood to read another health book and gather more information. It turned-out that my prejudgment was pretty much wrong. This book is indeed a comprehensive discussion of statins and all of its affiliations, CHD, stroke, lipids, etc., but also topics such as blood pressure, supplements, testing and screening, salt, placebos, some interesting chemistry, etc. all neatly packaged in the goal of cardiovascular health. I appreciate the way the author presents his knowledge in a down to earth, pragmatic way as to make the most complicated subject understandable, all laced with a, sometimes sardonic, sense of humor.

What do those of us that are rejecting the old medical myths, fighting our way through big pharma and corporate propaganda, hammering away at the truth, call our selves? I don’t know, but where ever you are along this path, this book is a “must read.” I am sorry that I did not pursue it earlier. I would be hard pressed to find a better title for this book myself, but it is much more than about statins. I would challenge anyone reading this book to not find something new and useful. I thank Dr. Kendrick for taking the time and energy to write this book.”

Dr L.B. Wright “If you are a doctor and come across this comment-please read this book. Most doctors don’t really get involved with statistics but Dr Kendrick makes the understanding of all the trials he looks at child’s play. I have been a GP for many years and feel embarrassed that my fellow GPs, in general, won’t even begin to listen if this important subject is broached. This book covers all you would ever want to know about lipids and related issues but much more besides. Any doctor will be blown away with the truths highlighted here.

Countryside “If you are confused by advice on Healthy Eating, if you take statins, PPIs, or blood pressure meds, read this book. If you have heard salt is bad for you or that whole grains are healthy and saturated fat is bad, read this book. The research to back up his views of what causes heart disease (as well as other ailments) is here. It is easy-to-read, humorous, and well-organized. If you work for Big Pharma you will not appreciate the spotlight on the way research hides results and skews them to fit the narrative that everyone should be in statins or blood pressure medication. Malcolm Kendrick has spent so much time finding out the truth. Thank you, Dr Kendrick. Now I know better what causes heart disease and what to do/not do to prevent or treat it.

GSH “It’s hard to sift through all the nonsense when it comes to dietary advice and heart disease and the related research. Dr. Kendrick helps us sift through the nonsense to show us what is important in these two areas. Personally, I have first hand experience with statin side effects. My side effects incuded foggy thinking, mild fatique and muscle weakness. Only God knows the other damage that was happening to my body.”
Tom Clayton, MD “This is a great book because it is easy understand what is being said. His writing style is somewhat “folksy”, which makes it very enjoyable compared to the typical book about these issues that often confuse (there is also much more here than just problems with statins). It is one of those rare books where when asked what you just read, you can actually remember the concepts.”
