Attributes of A Portrait of Walt Disney World PDF

Walt Disney World honors its fiftieth anniversary with “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” an incredible 18-month event that begins October 1, 2021. As part of the festivities, this must-have coffee table book paints a robust portrait of the Florida resort, through vibrant voices and rare Disney theme park concept art, photographs, and ephemera. A Portrait of Walt Disney World PDF

Walt Disney’s vision for the “Florida Project” begins with Disneyland and the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair. After an imaginative and expansive design, a unique land acquisition process, and an innovative construction period, Walt Disney World celebrated its opening in 1971. It featured a theme park dubbed the Magic Kingdom and three exquisitely themed resorts: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

As Walt Disney World consistently grew and evolved through the five decades that have followed, certain themes keep reverberating: there’s an appreciation for nostalgia, a joy in fantasy, a hunger for discovery, and an unending hope for a better tomorrow. Inspirational and memorable theme parks, water parks, sports arenas, recreational water sports options, world-class golf courses, vast shopping villages, and a transportation network unlike any other in the world resulted in fun and familiar characters, traditions, spectacles, merchandise, and so much more. The resort has come to represent the pulse of American leisure and has served as a backdrop for life’s milestones both big and small, public and private.

A Portrait of Walt Disney World: 50 Years of The Most Magical Place on Earth serves as a treasure trove for pop culture enthusiasts, students of hospitality, artists, art collectors, and Disney fans.

November 1, 2021

Beautiful book with lots of great pics and info. Great addition for any Disney fan. Taking 1 star off since the book came a little damaged. I also pre-ordered the book in February for a September delivery and just received in on Nov 1st.

Scrubbed for the ‘woke’ era
May 17, 2022

Fifty years of Walt Disney World should be exactly that. Unfortunately, this book has been scrubbed and polished for the woke amongst us (and most likely put together by the woke themselves). From the foreword by Bob Chapek, who is taking Disney down a road many of us will no longer follow, to completely glossing over an iconic ride like Splash Mountain, instead giving us all the glorified ‘Princess and the Frog’ ride PR, this book lacks the objectivity necessary to faithfully portray WDW’s 50 years. You will not find any images of Splash Mountain, but instead you’ll be regaled by a large image of ‘Princess and the Frog.’ While they could have mentioned the upcoming changes to Splash Mountain (which many are not happy about) and giving us at least one picture of the soon-to-be gone ride, instead they spared the feelings of the most fragile amongst us by not including ANY images of the ride at all. Essentially, they are glossing over the last 50 years of WDW and doing what the woke do: cancel what they can’t handle. Because of it, this book is not a fair assessment of 50 years of WDW, but only a shell of what it could have been. I gave it three stars (instead of one) because the book itself is nicely bound and it does have some wonderful images (many which can be seen in a few other 50 years books that have recently been released, but without the pandering). Sadly, a book that could have been cherished for years to come is instead a book that in 20 years, when we overcome our current cultural hiccup, will be laughed off of any coffee table.

Doesn’t appear to be a new book as expected
December 19, 2021

Item arrived today, late but within the expected timeframe. Overall I’m somewhat disappointed. I expected the book was new, but corners are bent, small rips on book jacket, a couple pages inside bent/folded over. Was expecting to give as a Christmas gift, but I’m debating on that now

Not just a history book, but a labor of love!
September 28, 2021
It requires special custodians of history to do justice to something as rich and storied as Walt Disney World — and these three authors accomplish the near-impossible. It’s abundantly clear from the outset that this book was crafted meticulously and with great admiration of the long arc of the Florida Project’s history. There are brilliant photos that were heretofore unseen; fascinating stories that had never been officially told; and insightful perspectives that — until now — had never been shared in a book of this kind. As much as we have fond memories of WDW attractions, the legacy of the Resort truly lies in the people who have crafted it over decades. . . and the emphasis on these personal contributions is what makes this book truly exceptional. Mary Poppins quoted John Keats when she remarked that “a thing of beauty is a joy forever,” and I suspect that any reader of this book would agree with the sentiment.

What a beautiful book!
May 19, 2022

This book is exactly what I hoped it would be, It’s a complete history of Disney World from inception to modern day. I couldn’t be more pleased. I had ordered this book 9 months ago, thru but a different supplier. That was horrible mistake, turns out they had bad ratings.
This supplier gave me a promised delivery date, which was completely accurate. The book was packaged properly and arrived in perfect condition….I couldn’t be more pleased!

Fantastic history of Disney and the quality of the book is amazing. The pictures are fantastic.

White Rain was fantastic. They stayed in touch on a regular basis until the book finally came in. I would definitely buy from them again. The book was well packaged and I felt bad for the mailman because of the weight of it.

Nice book, bad delivery
May 27, 2022

The book arrived a little damaged on its upper corners. These items are usually expensive, which is the case, so I reckon they should be protected adequately inside the package. This book lacked of inner protection excep for two plastic air cushions tah evidently were not enough for a trip from The US to Europe. I thought about returning it but in the end I guess I will keep it as it is. Please take note for future packaging. The book itself is very nice and interesting.

This will be the last high value book I order from . As with The Art of The Mandalorian last year, are inept at protecting heavy books. Last year they out it in a jiffy bag, this year a standard cardboard envelope, which meant the book arrived with a torn cover!
The book itself is beautiful, informative, and as gorgeous as you would expect. Buy it, but not from .

Nice but damaged

This is a Disney 50th Anniversary item bought for a Disney fan. Considering the value of the item I was surprised by the minimal packaging provided and hence the package was damaged. The corners were crumpled which due to the thin packaging, damaged the corners of the dust cover of the book. Very disappointed, I’ve seen better protective packaging on makeup.

This book has been much anticipated, I’ve had it on pre order since it was announced. I have to say from first impressions it was definitely worth the wait. The content is well researched (even including footnotes and bibliography) and the photographs are stunning. A true celebration of the last 50 years of Disney World history. As others on here have mentioned my book arrived with a dented corner due it being inadequately packaged – but I have picked this up separately with online store as it is no reflection of the quality of the book and the contents itself.

Lovely book but arrived damaged

Beautiful book, it’s just a shame it arrived damaged, I would have expected such expensive heavy book to be in better packaging than shoved in the standard cardboard wrap.

Beautiful book – don’t buy from like I did.

The book is beautiful and is quite likely everything you’re hoping it would be. However, it arrived in an box that was far too big for it with very little padding and no matter how careful the courier is, this book WILL be damaged by the time it makes its way to you. Very disappointed.
