Mr.andMrs.S. “By creating ‘Small Batch Baking’ with recipes for small quantities Saura Kline has encouraged me to try making things I had not tried before and, because of her clear instructions, helped me succeed at making some beautiful desserts that also tasted great!
So far I have made the Rosemary Goat Cheese Biscuits, the Cherry Pistachio Streusel Pie and the Greek Yogurt Berry Pie.
You can ask my husband. I have been trying to make really good biscuits for years. Saura’s recipe turned out better than anything I’ve tried. (pictured). As a bonus, the few biscuits we had left still tasted really good a couple of days later.
Next I made the Cherry Pistachio Streusel Pie. It was a delicious combination of flavors and textures. I used frozen cherries since there are no fresh cherries in the store right now and will not hesitate use them again for this recipe. The pistachio’s enchanced the taste so much they were well worth the effort to purchase. The Greek Yogurt Berry Pie and the Buttery Shortbread that I have also made tasted great and I will definitely be making them again.
Thank you Saura for creating this book with recipes in small quantities. Your writing style and creative abilities brighten the lives of others.”
Bit “This is a book by a chef and blogger who has scaled down her favorite recipes for home cooks who are craving sweets but, in this time of isolation, want to eat them all up while they’re still fresh. You’ll find 60 sweet and savory, mostly familiar, treats like Cheddar Cornmeal Biscuits, Sour Cream Muffins, Chocolate Cupcakes, Brownies, Blondies, Carrot Cake Bars, Nut Butter Cookies, Lava Cakes, Mini Pies, Mini Quiches, Tiramisu, Turnovers, Puddings, and Cinnamon Rolls — already sized for you into 6 servings (or sometimes 4). They don’t require any new or unusual pans. My favorite small section is “Bakeware Hacks” with ideas like making mini pies in a muffin pan or using a 9×13 pan to bake a cake you cut into 4 squares to layer and frost. The print is easy to read, black ink on a white background except for occasional highlights on a pale green background. Steps in the directions are numbered. If you really hate doing tedious calculations to downsize your own recipes, this is the book for you.”

Lynn “I gave this three stars because of the lack of pictures of the finished products. There are only about five pictures of recipe-related items in the entire book.

The instructions seem appropriately written to follow, but so much of “food” and the desire to bake is what it looks like.

To me this book is kind of like walking into a pastry shop and being handed a menu with the name of the pastry, but no picture and no bakery case to see what it looks like. It would be a less than desirable experience.
This is what this book feels like to me.

I wish it had pictures because the book seems well-written!”

Lisa “I love that this whole book is recipes for SMALL batches. I love sweets, but I am the only one in my house that eats them. The first thing I always do with a cookbook is flip through all the pages to see what I want to try. I’ve flagged a bunch of pages! But, so far I’ve made the brownies, and chocolate chip cookies, since these are two of my favorite sweets (and I had all the ingredients already). I’ve never been able to found a brownie recipe that came out moist and tasty, until this book! I was so pleased with how it came out! The cooking time can vary based on your oven, which was the case for me. I’ve made notes for myself, so I remember for the next time. Cinnamon rolls are next up on my list!!”
