There is very little guidance

Most of the exercises have about four steps. It does not break things down enough to be very helpful. It seems about as helpful as if you were just looking at someone’s drawing and trying to draw it. I DO NOT recommend this book. I wanted to sit down with my kids and have drawing sessions together and this was a disappointment.

Brand new to drawing and got this to help. First impressions is that it goes from step 2 to step 35 with no in-between. I’ll revise if it gets better but we’ll see.

Pretty good step by step but doesn’t have to many pictures to go from the sketch literally gives you three ways to go from which isn’t very good for beginners

This drawing book came on time, in brand new condition.
This is probably the best beginners drawing book that I have ever seen and owned.
It literally walks you step by step on how to begin drawing, and a lot of beginner books do, but this one starts out by telling the user to trace their hand, and how to actually get started in drawing. It has several illustrations on this and talks about various things you need, etc.
It also teaches shading, textures, perspective, and actual drawing lessons. This is an excellent book for beginners, as well as for advanced artists in the sense of being able to brush up on some techniques.
I am very impressed by this book.

I bought 3 of these for Christmas gifts, 1 for my 17yr old ID son, 1 for my 12 yr old grandson and 1 for my 12 yr old granddaughter. All had shown interest in drawing but honestly the boys seriously needed a lot of help.
They didn’t have this book 30 minutes before I was getting drawings from them that I could really tell what they were, it was amazing how much this book helped them.
So glad I bought them.

Remarkably bad choice for an actual begginner

I’m an *actual* beginner, which is why the title of this book appealed to me. It’s misleading. The very first lesson wants you to draw a human hand. DO you realize how difficult that is? The *very first lesson* includes steps like “add interior lines” and “practise shading” before ever addressing what those things *are* or *how to do them*. I think (charitably) that perhaps by “beginner” this book meant “a person who has experimented with drawing a whole awful lot, but lacks formal instruction, and wants guidance in taking their drawing to the next level”. Maybe if that is you you’ll get something. But if you are an *actual* beginner, as in have no idea what you’re doing, then give this book a hard skip.

the book is good content wise. demos given are useful BUT the printing was faded and unreadable . I returned it .
