Kristie “It is small, but it’s supposed to be… it’s definitely pocket size! Perfect for clinical where we are limited on what we can bring vs what we need. If you have decent vision or proper glasses ( as I do), you should be alright.”
CHARLENE “I ordered this a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. I canNOT believe that ANYBODY would want this. It is about the size of a 3×5 index card, and the print is so fine that the people using this must have great vision. No wonder that many things go wrong when we are prescribed a medication! I wear prescription glasses and even used a magnifying glass to barely read it. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!”
Dr. Glenn “I’m sure the information contained in the handbook was valid, but the point size was so small, you would need a magnifying glass to read the size two print. It’s very nice that it could fit in a pocket, but if it’s unreadable (which it was), it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. I returned it the day after I received it. If you are in your 20s and have great eyesight this book may be for you. Otherwise, drop another $20 and get the larger size volume that is readable.

Coloratura Kiki “I bought this little book for my niece who is embarking on a career as a medical transcriptionist and quality assurance editor.

The book does contain many, many drugs and their definitions, but I have 20/20 eyesight in one eye and 20/15 in the other, and even I found this dictionary difficult to read. I know physician and nursing residents might like to carry it around in their pocket, and they could certainly do that, but honestly, I think it would be better to have made it a little bigger. It’s so small, they’re going to have to carry around a magnifying glass as well in order to read much at all.

My niece will keep this dictionary and use it, for the time being, but she’s planning on buying one that’s easier to read. When you’re typing a medical report and a patient’s health is at risk, you don’t want to make any mistakes.

If carrying a pharmaceutical dictionary around in your pocket is your goal and you have perfect eyesight, this might do. If you’re like my niece and just want a dictionary you can keep at your desk, then best look for something bigger. Save your eyesight.”
