SO COMPACT AND USEFUL
February 26, 2020

I got this little handy thing for hassle-free drug reference for my second semester of nursing clinicals. I don’t know what I’d do without it! I learn so much more during clinicals and am always able to reference drugs to provide good nursing care. I have a big drug book as well, which goes waaaaay more in-depth for care plans and stuff, but this is the true star of my clinical days. So compact and tiny, you don’t even notice it in your pocket. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Is critical thinking still taught to healthcare workers?
July 15, 2021

This little guy is perfect for carrying around at work. It’s called a POCKET drug guide. I don’t know how big all y’all’s pockets are, but if you get much bigger than this, it isn’t going to fit without looking pretty awkward walking around. The text is small but very crisp and legible. If you have trouble reading it, then it’s time for an updated glasses prescription. There is no reason, young or old, you can’t read the print if you are wearing appropriate prescription lenses (it doesn’t count if it’s been more than a few years since you got new glasses!). I have horrifically bad myopia and I can read the print from a foot away. That’s because I’ve gotten updated prescription glasses in the last 2 years. My old prescription wouldn’t have cut it.

If you want something bigger, there are plenty of apps and other hard copy options available, but please don’t buy something that is advertised as a pocket edition with over 4100 drugs included and listed with dimensions of 3x5x0.75” and then complain that you can’t read the text. Let’s use some common sense. You’re probably healthcare employees of some kind and you’ve all been taught critical thinking. A book that is 3x5x0.75” and includes the drug class, pregnancy risk and controlled substance category, black box warnings, indications and dosages, dosage adjustments, adverse effects, interactions, and key teaching points of over 4100 drugs? The only possible way for that to fit in a book of this size is if the print is small. Don’t come here and give the book a low star rating because you didn’t bother to give thought to the item you were purchasing.

Simply the best reference you’re going to find. I am not a nurse but a CPhT and this is invaluable.

A 3″ x 5″ pocket drug guide.
September 19, 2020

Well I missed seeing the actual size of the booklet before I ordered it… that’s on me. So it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The font (text) size is around 5 or so. So…. teeny tiny! Even with my glasses I have to use a magnifying glass. Of course if they used a bigger font size the booklet would have to be either thicker, or they’d have to leave out some things. Neither of those scenarios would be ideal. It is what it is. The information is in a format well suited to someone with basic training in the medical field. Overall a good value if you have really good eyes, or really good corrective lenses.

Perfect for clinical
January 12, 2020

Perfect size to put in my scrub pocket while I’m at the hospital for my clinical. I always hated lugging around my clipboard, paper folder for all of my extra papers and my thick drug book while doing my clinicals. This pocket sized drug book has everything my 2019 drug book has plus more in a compact size.

This isn’t what I was looking for
March 4, 2020

I guess I was expecting the thin, “pocket” ones that the doctors use. I’ve had those before and they’re really nice to just slip into your purse, pocket, wherever. This one has a ton of meds but it’s quite thick and wouldn’t fit in a pocket unless it’s a backpack.

Great! Would buy again!
December 26, 2019

Bought this for my daughter for her upcoming semesters of nursing school! She said it’s very helpful and easy to understand. It’s also manufactured by the same company that her textbooks are so that’s a plus! It’s small (they didn’t lie when they said pocket size! Haha) but it fits easily and conveniently in her scrubs. She’s very pleased which makes me pleased! Would purchase again!
