A fake book sent to me.

I am very disappointed to get this fake book. It has poor printing; looks like it was printed from a scanned document. I hope to have a replacement.

Immensely useful for practitioners
June 2, 2018

I purchased this book to gather more therapeutic tools and skills in my work with diverse young adult therapy clients. I have not even finished reading the entire book, but I already use and adapt resources from this book in almost EVERY client session. For any mental health practitioner working with clients who have experienced trauma (or even clients who may not have experienced trauma!) this book is a priceless resource. Buy it, buy it!

Only for the inexperienced
August 7, 2018

This is a useful book only if you have no experience as a provider. Many are exercises from other providers from another time, when patients had more time to fill out forms or do ‘homework.’ Maybe also useful inpatient, again if your program lacks structure. I found nothing new flipping through it. I am returning it.

This is one of my favorite books of all time

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I have used many of these activities in my groups, and the clients love the fact that they are not the same boring topics as other groups they have attended. I would highly recommend this book.

Recommended this book from a trauma conference and feel it is a good resource overall. It is possibly more helpful for new therapists to the subject matter. I enjoyed reviewing it but I’m not sure it will be a go-to book of mine for interventions.

Too many pages for a few good ideas
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 31, 2019

I found some gems in this book but 227 pages A4 size is too much paper used to explain simple concepts. It is designed as a workbook and the title is confusing: “101” can suggest is an introduction book but it can also suggest there are actually 101 interventions to choose from. I found particularly annoying some many pages dedicated to questionnaires/exercises.

I love this book, I was hooked as soon as I opened the package, I let a colleague have a quick look at it & she went straight out that same day & ordered one for herself. It is packed full of really effective interventions, having tried these I can assure they work, fabulous book!

The ones i knew the best, the gestalt ones
Reviewed in Canada on January 28, 2018

Very limited book in terms of therapeutic content. This is a “grocery” list of technics but with very limited context or introductions with no explanation on validity (qualitative or else). The ones i knew the best, the gestalt ones, are just a list of verbal interventions to be used. A lot are alternative oriental mdecine therapy that are not very of use in a trauma psychotherapy context (require a lot of space, require to touch the patient). I bought this book because although my focus is on the relational aspects of therapy, i wanted to improve my toolset to offer different experiences, but at 37$ with limited book budget, it doesnt have much to offer in the end. I do not recommend this book, there are better options out there.
